Where Art Becomes Atmosphere

Immersive. Illuminated. Elemental Art by Irem Culhaci

Elemental by Nature. Archi-textural by Form.

Behind the Work

Based in Southern California, Irem is a Turkish-American sculptural artist creating immersive works for luxury interiors through mixed media and dimensional texture. With roots in mind-body wellness and a deep connection to nature, her work reflects the quiet relationship between nature, texture, and emotional expansion.

Each piece is intentionally developed through a meticulous process of sourcing refined materials, layering dimensional textures, and shaping every surface by hand. Merging architectural form, elemental texture, and light, the work is designed to create atmospheric spaces that evoke stillness, presence, and emotional spaciousness— transforming art into an immersive sensory experience designed to endure for generations.

The work is grounded in two elements:

Texture— physical, grounding, and tactile presence.

Natural elements— organic, timeless materiality.

Together, they shape atmospheric spaces that feel both elemental and deeply human.

This signature sculptural approach, known as Archi-textural ™ relief art, blends relief sculpture, architectural influence, and mixed media to create works that feel immersive, atmospheric, and timeless.

“Nature is a portal to truth, always within and around you— and my work is the invitation.” -Irem

“Laguna Tide”

Laguna Tide was inspired by the tide pools of Laguna Beach and the natural textures found along California’s coastline.

The sculptural surface was built through multiple layers to recreate the organic formations shaped by water over time. Select areas were filled with hand-dyed resin to capture the depth and color of coastal waters.

Created to bring the restorative qualities of nature into interior spaces, Laguna Tide offers a visual connection to the ocean while encouraging a sense of calm, presence, and appreciation for the natural world.

“Ammonite of Light”

Ammonite of Light draws inspiration from the ancient spiral form of the ammonite— a structure shaped through rhythm, time, and natural evolution. Sculpted dimensional textures and luminous mineral accents create a fossil-like presence that feels both elemental and timeless.

The spiral composition evokes continuity, movement, and geological memory, while warm metallic tones introduce a quiet sense of illumination throughout the surface. Both grounded and atmospheric, the work was designed to bring depth, warmth, and contemplative presence into a space.

“Azuré Patina”

Azuré Patina captures the quiet meeting of ocean depth and fossil memory. The sculpted form is enriched with mineral blues and layered turquoise tones, drawn from the natural oxidation of copper touched by salt air and time. Over time, copper develops a blue-green bloom that feels both ancient and luminous. That organic transformation inspired the tonal movement within this piece.

The spiral reflects evolution and continuity. It echoes the rhythm found in seashells, coastal stone, and the patterns within us. A reminder that time does not diminish beauty. It deepens it.

Built through a meticulous process of carving, layering, and textural refinement, the work merges raw materiality to create an immersive presence that feels both grounding and atmospheric.

“Rhythmic Flow”

Rhythmic Flow is a sculptural relief artwork that captures the natural cadence of movement: fluid, continuous, and grounding. Built through a meticulous layering process, hand-applied raised textures curve across the surface in soft, organic waves, creating a sense of motion that feels both intentional and effortless.

The layered blue background has subtle variations in tone, adding depth and dimension while allowing the lighter textured forms to stand out. As light moves across the surface, the textures shift slightly, making the piece feel alive and ever-changing.

“Volcanic Tide”

Designed as an immersive large-scale sculptural experience, Volcanic Tide invites the viewer into a landscape that feels both grounding and expansive — evoking the experience of looking into volcanic shoreline waters from above. Hand-sculpted relief textures echo the natural rhythm of erosion, stone, and tide, while layered ocean blues dissolve into softened mineral tones to create depth, movement, and atmospheric stillness.

Resin and fine mineral pigment refract light throughout the day, creating subtle glimmers reminiscent of sunlight dancing across water. A nearly matte-black perimeter anchors the composition with a volcanic presence, contrasting the luminosity within and transforming the piece into a grounded sensory experience rooted in elemental beauty.
